Opening Ceremony 14:00-15:30

We look forward to welcoming you all to ScotMUN and to Edinburgh for an opening ceremony we hope you won’t forget. Featuring speeches from members of the secretariat, a panel discussion with two consulate generals at the top of their field, as well as a welcoming speech by the conference secretary general, we hope it will be a dynamic engaing introduction to a weekend of diplomacy and discussions.

The opening ceremony for ScotMUN XIX will start at 14:00. Located at 50 George Square Lecture theatre G.03, where you registered earlier in the day, we ask that delegates arrive on time to ensure that the conference can quickly get underway and give you all the time to find a seat.

First Committee Session 16:00-18:00

At the end of the opening ceremony, the conference will officially begin. Members of the secretariat will guide all delegates to their respective committees, with opportunities for delegates to stretch their legs, grab a snack or refill their water bottles before debate begins sharply at 16:00. The first Committee meeting will end at 18:00, with the ScotMUN Ceilidh commencing later that evening at 20:00. More information can be found under Socials at ScotMUN.com.

We politely remind delegates to make sure they bring their completed position paper, a refillable water bottle, paper, personal computers, and a charger for their computers for the first day of debate. In addition, for delegates wishing to access Wifi, the University of Edinburgh uses ‘eduroam’ as its primary internet service. If you do not already have access via your institution, please use the ‘VisitEd’ wifi service.
