Friday 6th March: ScotMUN XIX Ceilidh at Dynamic Earth

This year, the ScotMUN Gala will take place at the Dynamic Earth Science Centre, right in the heart of Holyrood Park and the Old Town of Edinburgh, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Featuring a fabulous drinks reception, a traditional ceilidh, and a breathtaking backdrop of Arthur’s Seat, there is truly no better way to spend a Friday evening. Tickets for this event are currently sold out.

For those delegates lucky enough to of purhcased a ticket for the event, you will receive a personalised invitation letter during check-in for the conference. Make sure to bring this with you alongside a form of ID, or you will not be permitted entry, as there will be a bar for attendees to purchase drinks. The dress code for this event is black tie, so make sure to bring those bow ties and kilts. If you do not have black tie, formal business attire is also welcome.

We look forward to welcoming all delegates with social tickets to what we hope will be a wonderful and memorable event in the heart of Scotland’s capital city.

Saturday 7th March: Pub Social

In 2022, the ScotMUN secretariat introduced one evening of committee-specific socials in order to cultivate a non-committee environment with which to build relationships with other delegates. Having proven to be an excellent success in the many years following, we are happy to announce their return once more this year! More specific information will be given to delegates by their chairs during the first committee session.

This year, we have a wonderful selection of three venues that are well-loved by all residents of Edinburgh. For our beginner committees (UNHRC & UNDP), they will be in West Nic Records, whilst for our intermediate committees (DISEC, European Council & ECFOFIN), they will be in Pear Tree, and finally, our Advanced committees (Crisis, HOC & SC) will be in Pilgrims Bar. More detail including the locations of these venues, are below.

For all delegates who want to keep the good times rolling, all committees will be meeting at Bar 50 on Cowgate to keep the evening going. Guided by your chairs to the venue, take the opportunity to talk to delegates across the whole of the conference, share stories and meet new friends. Bar 50 can be found at Bar 50, 50 Blackfriars St, Edinburgh, for those wishing to join the social later.

Note: Delegates under the age of 18 years old will not be permitted entry to either socials, as they will be held in spaces where alcohol is served.

West Nic Records

A charming bar in the heart of Edinburgh featuring live music and a great bar with a large selection of beers, wines and ciders for all tastes.

West Nic Records will be the home of our beginner committees from 19:00 on Saturday. We look forward to welcoming all delegates from UNHRC and UNDP to this venue to connect and have fun with fellow delegates.

The Pear Tree

 38 W Nicolson St, Edinburgh

A rustic and classic pub well-loved by students of the University of Edinburgh, with its fireplace and large selection of on-tap drafts, is sure to please a crowd.

Pear Tree will be home to our intermediate committees from 19:00 on Saturday. We look forward to welcoming delegates from DISEC, EC and ECOFIN to this true establishment of Edinburgh.

Pilgrim's Bar

3 Robertson’s Cl, Edinburgh

A quirky venue just off the main road of Edinburgh and in the heart of the city’s Old Town, Pilgrims Bar is truly a unique bar we hope delegates will love.

Pilgrims Bar will be home to our advanced and specialised committees from 19:00 on Saturday. We look forward to welcoming delegates from Crisis, the Security Council and the House of Commons
